Battle of Xiangyang was a key battle between the invading Mongols of the Yuan dynasty and Southern Song army. The Yuan forces constructing forts around Xiangyang city in 1268 AD, to cut off any Song's reinforcement route. The city garrison attempted to attack Yuan's fort in order to break the entrapment, but the operation was a failure. This drawing shows two of the Southern Song heavy infantrymen retreating from their position when the operation to destroy Yuan's fort has fail.
